Citizens Health is recruiting a diet aide to work full-time in our food service department

Location: 100 E College Ave, Colby, Ks

Position Information: The cafeteria aide will complete functions at Citizens Medical Center, our acute care facility.  The aide is responsible for preparation of cold foods necessary for the salad bar and cafeteria refrigerator, preparing for serving the hot food bar, completing assigned sanitation procedures.  

The diet aide will report to the Food Service Manager.

Days: 5 days a week 

Hours: 6:30am -3:00 pm

Pay range:  Begins at $11.25, dependent upon experience.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan and prepare all cold foods necessary for the salad bar and cafeteria refrigerator.
  • Prepares and readies for serving hot food bar, waits on customers, dishes up meals for per phone orders and disposes of hot foods appropriately when meal service is over.
  • Completes all assigned and scheduled sanitation procedures in the kitchen.
  • Opens and closes the cash register and records daily meal sales and cash receipts 
  • Other duties as assigned

    What you bring to the table: 

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous food service experience, preferred
    • Possess interpersonal skills needed to function in a “team setting”.
    • Understand importance of maintaining established sanitary standards in food service.
    • Pleasant, tactful and courteous to patients/residents, visitors and staff.
    • Appropriate personal hygiene.
    • Ability to work in close cooperation with others and the Department Leader.
    • Ability to read well enough to follow directions and understand the responsibilities of working in the Food Services Department.
    • Willing and able to participate in educational sessions, in-service training and food demonstrations.
    • Experience in maintaining sanitary environments is an asset.

    Typical Working Conditions: Well-lighted, well-ventilated work area.  Exposed to hot and cold temperature changes.  Exposed to continuous noises put out by electrical food service equipment.  May be exposed to infection when handling contaminated dishes or silverware, etc.
